Summer is mainly hollidays
Up to epsilon, this is the middle of the summer hollidays. Innovation for this edition, we used html for the mailing list because we thought it will be more readable. Don’t panic, it’s just for lists, links and bold from time to time.
We did not published in the website but we (aryliin indeed) appeared in the press.
LeParisien [1] : « Storm-0558 », le groupe de hackeurs chinois, qui a infiltré les boîtes mails de Microsoft Fin Juin. Microsoft have communicated about corruption of the generation of their access-key to big instutution mailboxes by a chinese team (it makes a nice change from russian hackers). They didn’t wrote how the hackers managed to get the keys so there remain only hypothesis.
Huffington Post [2] : Instagram, WhatsApp… Avant de publier des images de vos enfants sur les réseaux, pensez à ces précautions. You know those annoying [grand]parents that only speak about their [grand]children and doesn’t stop showing you photos (old as the invention of pictures). They also crack the whip in social media and it might backfire at them when their [grand]children eventually that showing their privacy to the world disapoint them ;-)
Midi Libre [3] : Disparition d’Emile au Vernet : et si la clé du mystère se cachait dans les 1600 téléphones ciblés par les gendarmes ? As with any missing child, the investigators are asking themself “who could be near the facts?” and to answer that question, the phones antenna might contains relevant information… they log when subscribers have connected.
Novethic [4] : Threads, Mastodon, Bluesky… : Nos vies (pas toujours) privées chez les concurrents de Twitter X. Following the renaming of twitter, the rise of thread (facebook version) and the bad reputation of big corporations, we might ask if the alternatives are better… Answer: find where comes the monney.
Ebra [5] : Comment détecter une caméra cachée dans une location de vacances ? Because some landlords are also voyeur, you might be film going out of the shower. You could used an infra-red camera (night mode on some smartphones), perhaps a wifi scanner (a tech way of life) and if you find something: tell the police (do not manipulate proofs to avoid invalidating them).
Enjoy summer and have fun.
